Ages

Ancient Age ca 2000 B.C.

The game starts in the Ancient age. Cities may not surpass small size, also metal and knowledge have yet to come into the game, so objects that would under normal circumstances cost knowledge and metal, cost wealth and wood instead. The ancient age offers few military advantages, barracks units and towers.

Classical Age 1999 B.C. - 500 A.D.

The classical age offers more military advantages, Stables, Siege Factories, and Forts can be built. Cities may also become large size if they have 5 buildings in their radius. The university and mines may be built, with those buildings knowledge and metal can be gathered.

Medieval Age 501 A.D. - 1299 A.D.

Military buildings such as the catapult and fort are upgraded into their superior forms. Also, the supply wagon and the spy are brought into the game, making sieges easier. All units can be upgraded and defense becomes harder and harder.

Gunpowder Age 1300 A.D. - 1715 A.D.

Gunpowder units are introduced in this age, making ranged units the standard for infantry. Getting to the Gunpowder age first is a huge accomplishment meaning you will be able to attack swiftly with your vastly technologically superior army.

Enlightenment Age 1716 A.D. - 1880 A.D.

The Enlighten age brings an end to melee infantry combat, making infantry firearms the norm. All units can be upgraded.

This age is the dawn of modern combat. Key warfare principals like the tank and the airplane are introduced, as well as machine guns, automatic weapons, and flamethrowers. More rare resources are introduced and oil becomes a standard resource.

Modern Age 1936 A.D. - 1968 A.D.

The bomber and cruise missile make their first appearance as well as the important aircraft carrier. Once primitive war machines become dominant on the battlefield. Nuclear Weapons are introduces, making siege warfare obsolete.

Information Age 1969 AD - Future

The last age leads to the last of your library research. Once the library is researched future technologies are available. Technologies like missile shields, instant building, stealth bombers and fighters, as well as instant timers are introduced.
